Refund policy
Last updated: 8 August 2026
At SnapReserve, we aim to supply products that are correctly described, functional and fit for their intended purpose.
This policy applies subject to the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008 ("CPA"), the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 ("ECTA"), and other applicable South African law. Nothing in this policy removes any consumer right that cannot lawfully be excluded.
1. Seven-Day Cooling-Off Right for Online Purchases
Where section 44 of ECTA applies, you may cancel an online purchase without giving a reason and without penalty within seven days after receiving the goods.
To exercise this right, contact us at:
Email: support@snapreserve.co.za
within the applicable seven-day period.
Under ECTA, the customer may be required to pay the direct cost of returning the goods to SnapReserve. The balance of the payment must be refunded in accordance with the statutory requirements. ECTA requires the refund to be made within 30 days of cancellation.
SnapReserve does not presently offer an additional voluntary change-of-mind return period beyond the statutory rights provided by South African law.
2. Condition of Cooling-Off Returns
Please return:
- the correct product originally supplied;
- all included cables and accessories; and
- all other components supplied with the order.
Original packaging should be returned where reasonably possible, but failure to retain packaging will not by itself remove a statutory right.
Products must be packaged safely for return.
Where a product has been materially damaged, altered or misused by the customer beyond what is reasonably necessary to inspect it, SnapReserve reserves any rights and remedies available to it under applicable law.
3. Defective or Unsafe Products
South African consumers receive an automatic implied warranty of quality under the CPA.
If goods fail to meet the requirements of section 55 within six months after delivery, the customer may return them without penalty and at the supplier's risk and expense and direct the supplier to:
- repair the product;
- replace the product; or
- refund the purchase price.
The choice belongs to the consumer where section 56 applies.
4. Reasonable Inspection of Faults
SnapReserve may reasonably inspect or test a returned product to determine:
- whether the reported fault exists;
- whether the correct product has been returned;
- whether the problem is caused by compatibility or setup;
- whether the product was altered or damaged after delivery; or
- whether the issue resulted from misuse rather than a product defect.
This inspection does not remove a customer's statutory remedy where a qualifying defect is established.
5. What May Not Constitute a Manufacturing Defect
Subject to applicable law, the statutory defect remedy may not apply where the problem results from matters such as:
- impact or crushing;
- water or liquid damage;
- puncture;
- deliberate damage;
- unauthorised opening or repair;
- modification of the product;
- use contrary to safety instructions;
- damage to built-in cables through misuse;
- damage caused after delivery by incompatible accessories; or
- alteration contrary to applicable instructions.
The CPA expressly qualifies its implied warranty where goods have been altered contrary to instructions after leaving the control of the producer, distributor or retailer.
Normal cosmetic wear alone is not automatically a defect.
6. Battery and Charging Performance
Actual charging performance may vary according to:
- phone model;
- battery condition;
- charging protocol;
- magnetic alignment;
- phone case;
- magnetic ring;
- ambient temperature;
- simultaneous device use;
- apps running while charging; and
- whether wired or wireless charging is used.
A difference in real-world charging performance does not automatically establish that the product is defective.
If you experience a problem, we may first ask you to perform reasonable troubleshooting so that compatibility issues can be distinguished from product defects.
7. Android Magnetic Compatibility
Android devices do not necessarily contain built-in magnetic attachment hardware.
A compatible magnetic case or correctly positioned magnetic ring may therefore be required for magnetic attachment.
The phone must separately support compatible wireless charging if wireless charging is to be used.
Customers who are unsure of compatibility are encouraged to contact us before purchasing.
Nothing in this section excuses SnapReserve from responsibility where the product supplied was materially misdescribed.
8. Wrong, Missing or Damaged Orders
If you receive:
- the wrong product;
- a materially incomplete order; or
- a product damaged before or during delivery,
please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.
We may request:
- your order number;
- photographs;
- video; and
- a description of the issue.
We recommend reporting courier damage within 48 hours because early evidence assists our courier claim, but this request does not shorten statutory consumer rights.
9. Return Authorisation
Before sending any product back, please contact:
Email:support@snapreserve.co.za
Include your:
- order number;
- name;
- reason for return; and
- relevant photographs/video if applicable.
We will provide the appropriate return instructions and return address privately.
Do not send products to an address obtained from Google, social media, domain records or another third-party source.
Requiring prior contact is an administrative procedure and does not remove rights granted by law.
10. Return Shipping Costs
For a qualifying ECTA change-of-mind cancellation, the customer is responsible for the direct cost of returning the goods.
For qualifying defective, unsafe or failed goods under section 56 of the CPA, return is at the supplier's risk and expense.
11. Refund Method
Refunds will normally be returned to the original payment method.
SnapReserve will not force a customer entitled to a monetary refund under law to accept store credit instead.
Bank or payment-provider processing times after a refund has been issued are outside SnapReserve's direct control.
12. Fraudulent Returns
SnapReserve may record product identifiers, packaging information and fulfilment records for legitimate fraud-prevention and warranty purposes.
A return claim may be investigated where there is reasonable evidence that:
- a different product was returned;
- the supplied unit was substituted;
- components were deliberately removed;
- the product was deliberately damaged; or
- fraudulent information was supplied.
Any personal information used for these purposes will be processed subject to POPIA.
13. Additional Manufacturer or Supplier Warranty
Any separate manufacturer's or distributor's warranty that may apply is additional to, and does not replace, statutory CPA rights.
Unless expressly stated on the product page, SnapReserve does not voluntarily extend the statutory six-month implied warranty into a longer independent SnapReserve guarantee.
14. Complaints
Please contact SnapReserve first so that we have an opportunity to resolve the matter.
Unresolved eligible consumer-goods disputes may be escalated to the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud. The CGSO receives consumer-goods complaints free of charge.
